Our Story

Po’Boys Kitchen began its journey in San Francisco’s Potrero Hill neighborhood in 2020, during a time when gathering around comforting food mattered more than ever. From the beginning, our goal has been simple: bring the warmth, generosity, and bold flavor of Southern cooking to the Bay Area, serve it with genuine hospitality, and create meals that people remember.
Our cooking combines Southern tradition with a San Francisco point of view. The menu celebrates Cajun and Creole favorites such as po’boy sandwiches, jambalaya, gumbo, fried chicken, seafood, shrimp and grits, brunch dishes, and comforting sides. Everything is guided by a love of homemade flavor, careful seasoning, and food that feels generous enough to share. Sometimes that love includes a little butter, a little spice, and plenty of crisp, savory goodness.

Inspired by Southern Foodways
Southern cuisine grew from the meeting of cultures, ingredients, and cooking traditions. Native American, West African, and European influences all helped shape the food of the American South. Cajun and Creole cooking carry that history forward through layered seasoning, resourceful techniques, seafood, rice, vegetables, smoked meats, and dishes designed to bring people to the table.
At Po’Boys Kitchen, we honor those traditions while adding our own Bay Area touch. Our aim is not only to make satisfying food, but also to create moments worth sharing—while respecting one important house rule: please keep your hands off someone else’s fries.
